Administrative Profile: Aurora Kiviat
Aurora Kiviat began working with Operation Access in the winter of 2009. She came to OA via a professor at Berkeley, where she is pursuing a Masters in Public Policy. Aurora tracked developments in state and federal health care policy for OA, and studied patterns of demand for medical care by the uninsured. In reference to working with OA, she says she "had such a wonderful experience working with staff and volunteers" that she even continued working with OA by completing an internship during the summer of 2009. During her internship Aurora was able to learn more about program development and non-profit management. Aurora plans to continue working with OA during the upcoming year while she completes her graduate studies.
Administrative Profile: Daniel Chen
Daniel Chen began his volunteer tenure with Operation Access in the summer of 2006 through Health Career Connection, he rejoined the OA team in the fall of 2007 through the summer of 2009. Daniel has been a jack-of-all-trades, processing new referrals, screening English and Mandarin speaking patients, corresponding with patients and community clinics, helping to set up OA’s e-newsletter, creating promotional posters, producing and editing a volunteer video, and assisting in the process of planning and launching a new website. Daniel was inspired to volunteer with Operation Access because his beliefs align with the mission of OA. Although Daniel has moved on to pursue a M.P.H. at Drexel University in Philadelphia PA, he will continue to volunteer with OA as a Website Assistant and by producing promotional posters.
