VOLUNTEERISM IS THE HEART OF OPERATION ACCESS

Every month, Operation Access volunteers provide the gift of surgical treatment to people who would otherwise go without.

You can make a difference in the life of someone in your own community who is unable to access surgical care. Operation Access has created the framework to enable individuals from many different professions to donate their skills:

>

Operation Access volunteer medical teams include surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses and technicians. For information on volunteering, click here.

>

Skilled interpreters in Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, Portuguese and other languages provide medical interpretation for patients, both on-site and over the phone.

>

Interns and administrative volunteers lend their skills to special projects in their field of interest and expertise.

Volunteer Spotlight

Dr. Ram Ramachandra, MD. Kaiser Permanente Hayward, is Volunteer of the Quarter. CONGRATULATIONS! Click here to see OA's past volunteer winners or to make a nomination.

Dr. Ramachandra specializes in vascular surgery at Kaiser Permanente Hayward. Dr. Ramachandra established the Operation Access program in 2006 in the Kaiser Permanente Southern Alameda Service Area (Kaiser Permanente Hayward, Medical Offices in Union City and Kaiser Permanente Fremont). Dr. Ramachandra has personally donated over 30 surgical services, recruited many other medical professionals to volunteer, and is the “surgeon champion” for OA in the area. Dr. Ramachandra provides excellent patient care to some of the neediest residents in the community in a caring and non-judgmental manner.
