This has been an exciting season at OA…filled with acknowledgments for our work strengthening the healthcare safety net through our medical volunteers and improving the lives of our underserved Bay Area neighbors.
OA was recognized by the San Francisco Business Times as the winner of its inaugural Health Care Heroes Award for Community Impact.

One of our founders, Bill Schecter, MD won the UCSF Chancellor's Award for Public Service; UC San Francisco in May, 2011.
And, also in May, the Volunteer Center, San Francisco and San Mateo Counties presented its 2011 Community Spirit Award to one of one most active volunteers, Dr. John Ngai, Kaiser Permanente, Redwood City; (2011)
In addition, OAI Director, Jennifer Errante, participated in Sacramento Cancer Disparities Symposium sponsored by the Sacramento Community Cancer Coalitions and held at UC Davis in April, 2011. The conference focused on colorectal cancer disparities and outlined innovative methods to reduce disparities in colorectal cancer screening and in the rate of death from colorectal cancer among different ethnic and racial groups.
Finally, Operation Access was one of 2 non-profit organizations selected for funding by students in the 2011 Cal Strategic Philanthropy Program, Haas Business School, UC Berkeley. The students engaged in a rigorous process of developing funding and evaluation criteria and we were pleased to have been chosen from among 36 non-profit organizations. The program is underwritten by the Sunshine Lady Foundation.
