For Volunteers
Are you interested in helping people in your community? Have you ever wanted to use your expertise on a medical mission, but could not commit to the extensive time away? Are you a Physician, a Nurse, an OR Technician, or an interpreter? If so, then please consider donating your time and expertise by volunteering with Operation Access. You can make a difference in someone’s life… right here at home. The need is great. The number of uninsured has steadily increased while the resources available to serve them continue to shrink. Approximately 360,000 low-income adults living in our service area will be uninsured for all or part of the year. And if they need surgical or specialty care to relive pain or to get them back to work, the options are limited.
As a volunteer, you will provide ambulatory services to patients who are referred from community clinics and qualified by OA staff. You decide when and how often you want to volunteer. We make sure that the paperwork is handled and that patients are well-prepared for their procedures - so that you can focus on patient care.
Our volunteers make a difference. Patients are able to work and care for their families and enjoy an improved quality of life after receiving donated care through OA. You can change a life too.
Physicians
Surgeons, specialists, and anesthesiologists donate uncomplicated outpatient procedures either in their offices or in conjunction with participating medical centers. For more information click here.
Nurses and Technicians
Currently open to Kaiser Permanente employees only. KP medical centers hold Saturday morning sessions where everyone is a volunteer. If you are a KP employee and would like to learn more, view nurses and technicians or visit KP CARES.
Interpreters/Translators
Opportunities to provide language assistance await you in both the OA office and on-site at medical appointments. Desired languages are Spanish, Portuguese, Mandarin, and Cantonese. For more information, visit interpreters and translators.
Administrative Volunteers
Occasional opportunities to support OA by taking on tasks such as filing, data entry and other administrative tasks. For more information, view our administrative volunteers
Our Volunteers
